A friend came into town this week, one of those friendships that feels like a quiet gift in your life. We grabbed lunch at Panera because we mostly just wanted to sit and talk. It was freezing, so we went looking for coffee somewhere warm. I am not a Starbucks person. Burned beans and high prices are not my thing. The rest of the day in New Braunfels was a good reminder that places don’t have to be perfect to be fun. Went to New Braunfels this weekend to see the oldest and ended up having lunch at Naturally in Gruene. Definitely a place we’ll return to. While in Los Lunas, my colleague and I ate at The Range Café, a local spot just around the corner from the school we were working at. It was so good and so delightfully quirky that we came back again on day two. Second visit to Annapurna World Vegetarian Café, and it confirmed what I already knew. This is not everyone’s cup of tea, but it is very much mine. Thirty minutes between Albuquerque and Los Lunas, and the kind of sky and mountains that slow everything down without asking. January 2.

EMS ambulance already waiting in the gym parking lot. Last night Cody and I celebrated 25 years of marriage. Somehow I have now officially been married longer than I was single, which feels strange and grounding all at once. Netflix filiming in #newmexico … couldn’t go in … but we scouted the outside. #travel #sightseeing
